That is so annoying.

Have you ever had a friend who is really excited about something and wants to talk about it all the time and it just annoys the snot out of you because they can never seem to shut up about it?

I am TOTALLY that friend...at least I want to be myself, which is that person, but I try really hard not to be because I don't want my friends to be annoyed with me!

The two things I want to bring up are having a third baby, and my photography business. I could talk about babies all day long, and my business is new and exciting.

I have been working really hard to get this business going and I want to share my successes and ask my friends for advice at times, but sometimes I feel like they have zero interest. Or, they may be interested, and a few friends have actually hired me for photos and that is amazing support, but even with this show of support, I still don't want to drive them crazy always bringing it up!

I know I need to ask more questions about what's going on in their lives. I really am interested but sometimes I want them to just fill me in without having to ask- I want them to want to tell me stuff like I want to tell them stuff!

Have you ever known yourself to be that person that you know you dislike? Or at least wanted to talk about something nonstop but you don't because you don't want to be obnoxious? If so, feel free to tell me about it - whatever you want to talk about...I'm listening. :)

  1. Congratulations on your new adventures. I'm not usually "that person," but I'm married to one and it can be tough to navigate socially. It's easier to help students.

  2. HAHA You went somewhere unexpected with this post. At first, I was thinking of this guy have to work with who WHO SHUT UP about the activity he planned. I had to listen to it for 3 months, non-stop. Finally it arrived so I thought it was over. Now every time I see him he wants to know how I think it went. It's driving me crazy!!

I think that talking non-stop about a topic others might feel is annoying is common. It is why I have a variety of friend groups. I can talk to one, then another, then another. I am a talker. I get obsessed about certain ideas and I need to talk them out. I have found that blogging fills that void for me. I should probably write an annoying baby post too! :)

  3. What a great question! And one that I'm not sure I want to answer because I sheepishly admit the answer would be YES! It takes special friends to put up with my constant dwelling on certain topics for sure. I would love to read an annoying baby post- for I could write one too. :-) Great slice!

  4. I know what you mean! I've always been annoyed by those people who have to jump in with how they have been through the same/similar thing and just HAVE TO share with you. Then, it becomes all about them. Then when I realized that I do that too, I tried to figure out why. I just want to have a connection with them and keep it going. I'm trying not to be THAT person and just be a good listener, but sometimes it's really hard.

  5. I can understand this for sure. There are times when I could talk about a million things, but I don't instead I save it all up for Mike or Holly. There are days they probably wish I wasn't so long-winded! :)

  6. This made me laugh. I think we have all been on both sides of a conversation like this. Congrats to you!

  7. I was drawn to your slice based on my experience with some friends within the last week, but then it went in the opposite direction and so did my thinking. I can definitely be that person. I am skilled at not letting you get a word in edgewise because I have so much to say. Is it relevant? Interesting? Important? It probably isn't most of the time, but it doesn't stop me from sharing my gift of gabbing. And yes, by the way, why can't people just share without asking?!?! :)
